Busy Fingers For Christmas
Parenting Skills December 22nd, 2006Christmas is fast approaching and many of you are probably rushing around getting things ready for the special day. If you have young children, you probably don’t have much time to entertain them now. Even wishing they could entertain themselves so you could do what you need to do. Plopping them down in front of the TV is very tempting but not very healthy. Why not try some of these activities to buy yourself some time:
1. Make a paper christmas tree.
Takes you less than a minute to cut the paper and get the tree ready. Children just need to decorate it – draw, color or paste. You can make a few and later when they are done, exhibit their jungle of christmas trees.
2. Play dough. They can make play dough cookies or pretend to cook as you make real cookies and do real cooking. This is a simple recipe:
1 cup cold water
1 cup salt
2 tsp vegetable oil
3 cups flour
2 tbsp cornstarch
food coloring
3.Christmas coloring pages
4. Cottonball snowman. All the kids have to do is stick cotton balls onto the snowman.
MERRY CHRISTMAS EVERYONE!
