Mother’s Day Craft: Lollipop Flower

Art and Craft 3 Comments »

Mother’s Day is coming soon. Looking to do something special. Try your hand at a candy bouquet. This lollipop flower craft is very easy to do.
Flower Bouquet

Step 1: Select either patterned paper or a plain colored one. I chose a plain color coz’ then the kids can add their own decoration and write special messages. Draw a dot for the center and then draw the outline of a flower and cut it out.

Step 2: Using a blade, make a slit at the center in the shape of an “X”. This should give you a fairly good opening to stick the lollipop through.

Step 3: Cut out 3 hearts. You can do this by folding a strip of paper (4 inches wide, 11.8 inches long), draw half a heart and then cut it out.

Punch a hole at the bottom of the heart.

Step 4: Line them all up nicely and insert the lollipop through the holes. Put some glue to hold them together. I also tied a ribbon to the base to help keep the petals up. You could probably add some more curly ribbons to make it look prettier.

Paper Snowflakes

Paper Snowflakes
This was a fun art and craft activity we did before Christmas. Of course it doesn’t have to be a Christmas craft. It’s just fun folding the paper, cutting it and then opening to discover what pattern you just made.
We decorated K’s play room to give it a festive, colourful look.

You could use these paper snowflakes to decorate your homemade cards.

The following site gives very good instructions on how to do it.

Craft Idea:Tortoises

Tortoise craft
Got this idea to make tortoises from … aiyah, can’t seem to find the reference blog now (if you are the one, please let me know). Anyway, really simple to do. Just cut out the shapes, glue them together and let the children create their own patterns on the tortoises ’shell’. Oh, and it helps to have googly eyes in your craft box; always handy.

Now the tortoises are on my fridge. Where do you showcase your children’s work?

Found a really simple but cool art work you could do with your children. It’s called Scratch Art. Thank you Skip To My Lou for sharing.
